PEEK sheet metal processing parts: The raw materials used to make their bearing components largely determine the functionality and reliability of rolling bearings. In order to meet the extremely demanding application requirements in the sedan industry, engineers have started to use high-performance materials such as PEEK processed parts and polymer materials in the planning of deep groove ball bearings.

 

 

The cage is not only affected by mechanical stresses such as friction, tension, and inertia, but also needs to undergo chemical reactions from certain lubricants, lubricating additives, or their aged products, organic solvents, or coolants. The relative impact of such matters may be influenced by other operational parameters, including high temperatures, shock loads, vibrations, or combinations of such factors with other conditions. Therefore, in terms of the function of the cage and the reliability of the bearing itself, planning and materials play a crucial role. This is why engineers develop cage types based on PEEK processed polymer materials and plan for the high requirements of the sedan profession.

 

 

 

The characteristic of PEEK sheet polymer material cages is the perfect combination of strength and elasticity. Polymer materials exhibit good sliding performance on the lubricated steel surface, while the cage surface in contact with the rolling element has excellent lubricity. Together, the two create extremely low friction, allowing the heating and wear of the bearing to be maintained at a low level. Low density materials mean low inertia of the cage. Even in the absence of lubricants, polymer material cages have excellent working performance, so there is no risk of jamming or secondary damage to the bearings during continuous operation for a period of time.

 

 

The material used for most injection molded cages is PA66 (polyamide 6,6). The mechanical properties of polymer materials, such as strength and elasticity, are related to temperature and can undergo long-term changes under operating conditions, known as aging. During the aging process, the temperature at which the polymer is located, the time it experiences, and the medium (lubricant) in contact are all crucial factors. On the surface, the lifespan of the cage decreases with increasing temperature and lubricant corrosiveness. Some media have extremely strong corrosiveness, making cages made of fiberglass reinforced polyamide 6,6 unsuitable for use at operating temperatures above+70 ¡ã C. The typical example is ammonia used as a refrigerant in compressors.

 

 

It is precisely for this reason that engineers widely use glass fiber reinforced polyether ether ketone (PEEK) in their cages to meet the strict requirements for high-speed, chemical erosion, or high temperature communication in applications such as generators or transformers. The unique function of PEEK sheet metal processing parts is due to their excellent strength and durability, extensive operating temperature planning, high chemical corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and ease of processing, which are perfectly combined. Not only that, at temperatures up to+200 ¡ã C, this material did not show any signs of aging due to temperature and lubricant additives. Relying on these outstanding characteristics, PEEK sheet metal machined part cages are fully suitable for ball and roller bearings (such as hybrid or high-precision bearings), as well as certain customized sedan bearing types.
